Here’s your chance to see three up-and-coming stars on the Arizona jazz scene. The young and impressive trio of Cody Rowlands, Zac Gillespie, and Brett Larsen will be at Next Coffee Co. Friday night to take the jazz stage.

All three are members of the Young Sounds of Arizona.

Cody, a junior at Deer Valley High School, plays trumpet and piano and has performed with renowned jazz artists Wayne Bergeron, Rebeca Mauleón, and Tony Monaco. Cody won a scholarship to the jazz performance summer program at the prestigious Boston Berklee College of Music and was just featured last month on Channel 3’s Good Morning Arizona and Your Life A to Z.

Zac, a senior at Ironwood High School, plays trumpet and piano and performed with the 2008 Gibson/Baldwin GRAMMY Jazz Ensemble in Los Angeles. Last year, Zac also won a scholarship to the Berklee summer performance program, and this summer, he was one of only 19 high school jazz artists invited to attend the highly selective Summer Jazz Colony at the Brubeck Institute in Stockton, Calif.

Brett is pursuing jazz studies at Mesa Community College.
