Happy 2009! Now that the craziness of the holidays is winding down, take some time to relax over some smooth coffee and even smoother jazz on this first Friday of the new year.

Zac Gillespie, a senior at Ironwood High School, is a member of the Young Sounds of Arizona and a regular performer here at Next Coffee Co.

He’s already hit the big stage, performing in Los Angeles last year with the 2008 Gibson/Baldwin GRAMMY Jazz Ensemble. Last summer, Zac won a scholarship to attend the summer jazz performance program at Boston’s renowned Berklee College of Music, and this summer, he was one of only 19 high school jazz artists invited to attend the highly selective Summer Jazz Colony at the Brubeck Institute in Stockton, Calif.
