Local songwriter Matthew Moran will be back at Next Coffee Co. this Friday for another great acoustic performance.

Based right here in Anthem, Ariz., Matthew was recently featured on Channel 3’s Good Morning Arizona and is quickly becoming a regular on the Next Coffee Co. stage.

Matthew was influenced at an early age by an appreciation for the lyrics and storytelling of the early ’70s — Simon & Garfunkel; Peter, Paul, & Mary; Jim Croce; Pete Seeger — and then later by blues, country, and good ol’ rock & roll.

Matthew’s songwriting reflects his musical diversity and penchant for storytelling, from the blues-inflected “Dangerous Girl” and the sultry “Night Is Not for Sleeping” to the dark-edged “Lonely Mile Man,” with its echoes of Johnny Cash, and the softer finger-picking ballads “Lady Love” and “Morning Girl.”
