The band is currently climbing the ReverbNation national Country charts, but the 13 to the Gallows sound resists neat labels like “country” or “alt-country” — part Johnny Cash, part Dale Hawkins, with a Whiskeytown twist and spiked with barbed wire, 13 to the Gallows update classic country and vintage juke-joint with surf-tinged strains of neo-rockabilly; electrified, percussive arrangements; and brooding lyrics torn through with the Arizona desert, lost roads, and dust-worn, inescapable places.
