Back for the summer from college, he returns to our stage to play for friends, family and fans.

Zach Gillespie, a recent graduate of Ironwood High School and a member of the Young Sounds of Arizona, is already a recognized young star of the Arizona jazz scene.

His quartet was featured last month as part of Jazz in Arizona’s “Catch a Rising Star” concert series, in a performance alongside the Mike Vax Sextet at ASU’s Kerr Cultural Center. And Zach has performed with renowned jazz artists like Wayne Bergeron, Rebeca Mauleón, Bobby Shew, and Wycliffe Gordon.

Zach has played with the 2009 Jazz Band of America, the 2009 Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, the 2008 Gibson/Baldwin GRAMMY Jazz Ensemble, and the Young Sounds of Arizona All-State Jazz Band, and been honored by both the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Brubeck Institute in Stockton, Calif., with past invitations to attend their elite summer jazz performance programs.

He was also invited to perform at the Western International Band Conference, the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, and the annual conference of the International Association for Jazz Education.
