Jasmine Hormez, Special Appearance April 16

Jasmine Hormez, Special Appearance April 16

When an artist is prepping for their debut, writing and producing their first single, you could say that the title of that song (and the song in general) is incredibly important.

It’s like an author selecting his or her next story subject, a basketball coach stuck between man-to-man or zone defense or a politician torn between two sides of a controversial issue.

It must have an identity and it must make a statement.

Jasmine Hormez is making her statement. The appropriate title to her first single, “I’m Ready” is showcasing just what she has to offer — the fusion of classic pop and smooth R&B, amazing vocal range, groovy vibes and a sexy image without compromising your values. The NEW definition of pop music.

Many have watched her open for Lil Wayne, Day 26, Omarion, and J Holiday with a stage show that rivals the best in the industry. At 20 years young, Jasmine is ready to make a lasting impact on the music world with her debut EP, “The Rest of My Story.”  Still an indie artist, Jasmine has been weighing her options at major labels. Label meetings have put her in front of music executives such as Def Jam’s The Dream and Sha Money XL. According to Def Jam’s Senior VP of A&R, “Jasmine has an unique sound and look that identifies with some of my favorite artists like Rihanna, her edge is like FeFe Dobson. She’s a pop-star.” – (Sha Money XL).

Jasmine goes against the grain in a society that places such a heavy emphasis on appearance allowing her to stay true to herself and to her art. She says, “I feel and experience the same thing every other 20 year old does but I don’t see an equal representation of who we are as a generation. All of the customary subject matter remains, but I approach it in a way that I’m comfortable with. I can still be sexy and cute without having to compromise either myself or my values.” To stay true to this, Jasmine has perfected her songwriting under the production of music heavyweights like Scott Storch, Checkmate Music Group (Raven Symone), Steve B (Michael Jackson, Beyonce), and Billy Schleifer.

Jasmine is only 20 years-of-age but already a rising star with a debut EP The Rest of My Story due out in 2011. “I’m Ready” is her commitment to the music industry and to her art. True art.
