Our Story

Funny how great things can happen when you least expect it.

Next Coffee Company has transformed and evolved from our original roots, back from when we first opened our doors in April 2008.

With the bustle of Midwestern University across the street, we started out as a place largely geared toward students, a college coffee shop with big tables, cushy chairs, and plenty of room to study.

But along the way, we got to know you, our loyal customers — not just students, but artists, techies, bakers, musicians, moms, dancers, dog lovers, entrepreneurs — and we gradually started becoming so much more. Next Coffee Co. began to take shape not just as a college hangout but as a neighborhood café and meeting spot for some of the busiest and most creative minds in the West Valley.

And now, after trying all manners of different menus, products, and ideas, Next Coffee Co. has finally grown into what we are proud to be and proud to be a part of: a community.

Every day, we bring the energy of the neighborhood together as a community café, mini-market, art gallery, live-music venue, talent stage, and local-business hub, all in one.

We believe in local products for local people. We want to bring Phoenix’s finest to our customers and connect our community through food, art, music, and culture.

We feature an always-new menu of locally made original foods, snacks, and desserts — regular favorites, along with a changing selection of spotlight items and limited-time treats. Some of our items come from a serendipitous find, others come from suggestions from our customers. We select our vendors with a careful eye for excellence and ask that they deliver their best products, the ones that they’ve strived to make outstanding, unique, and a signature creation.

We find the freshest local musical, dancing, and comic talent to grace our stage and allow anyone stopping by to enjoy the thriving artistry that all too often goes hidden in Phoenix. Our walls are covered with the creativity and vision of some of the finest local artists in the Valley.

We’re proud to be a part of this vibrant community and even more proud to be able to share it with our guests.

Don’t get us wrong. We’re still Next Coffee Company. We still have our big tables and chairs and open space. We still brew our famous specialty coffee creations, like the Himalayan Hammer.

We still are and always will be a place where you can get a great cup of coffee.

But we’re also a place to find so much more. From a one-of-a-kind menu of local foods, treats, and drinks to an exciting display of neighborhood talent, there’s always something new behind our doors.
