Im currently playing in the Sharett Miller Duo with the always fabulous Sharett Miller, at Cross of Christ Church in Anthem AZ, as worship team guitarist, and in various fill-in gigs t/o the Valley.

I’ve done recording and live music clinics at the Conservatory for Recording Arts in Gilbert, worked in the house bands at the Jackrabbit Lounge and the Skye Lounge, fronted a jazz/pop trio, and been called upon for more than a few sub gigs for bands t/o the area. Bands I’ve worked with in the past include Crayon Sky, the Vibe, Floor 13, 101, the Kip Fox band, the Tim Sealy Band, Time Bomb, and more.

I have been teaching private guitar lessons for 15 years and am lucky to have some great students and ex-students, whom I count as some of my closest friends and whom I learn something new from every day.

I am familiar with all genres, incl rock, jazz, funk, r&b, country, rockabilly, surf, punk. Play and read for bass as well. Zach Gillespie, a recent graduate of Ironwood High School and a member of the Young Sounds of Arizona, is already a recognized young star of the Arizona jazz scene.

His quartet was featured last month as part of Jazz in Arizona’s “Catch a Rising Star” concert series, in a performance alongside the Mike Vax Sextet at ASU’s Kerr Cultural Center. And Zach has performed with renowned jazz artists like Wayne Bergeron, Rebeca Mauleón, Bobby Shew, and Wycliffe Gordon.

Zach has played with the 2009 Jazz Band of America, the 2009 Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, the 2008 Gibson/Baldwin GRAMMY Jazz Ensemble, and the Young Sounds of Arizona All-State Jazz Band, and been honored by both the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Brubeck Institute in Stockton, Calif., with past invitations to attend their elite summer jazz performance programs.

He was also invited to perform at the Western International Band Conference, the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, and the annual conference of the International Association for Jazz Education.

Through the years, he has cultivated a large and loyal following. Audiences enjoy his nimble guitar work and warm vocals in settings ranging from his solo performances at The Duck & Decanter to the complexity of his quintet at the Desert Botanical Gardens.
