They played together for four months, performing around La Paz and Maricopa Counties, including the First Annual Parker Blues Festival. Vinny, Morris and Howard decided to expand their blues horizons with more varied material than the original band and they started the Desert Blues Project in May of 2010.

Every Tuesday…Toms back at NEXT Coffee in Glendale EVERY TUESDAY for an OPEN MIC BLUES/JAZZ JAM! Toms put together a great house band with ROB WREN on bass and JOHN RUMBAUGH on drums for this fun session. Players and singers are welcome to come down, bring their axe, and sit in with Tom and the NEXT band for some jammin fun! ALL levels of player are welcome, form students to pros. PLEASE spread the word so we can get a nice scene going here on the west side!

Come meet Spongie.  Admission is FREE!  She will have a limited number of TASER ® Cartridges for women to shoot!

 

Spongie Jensen is a certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist.  She received her certification in Women’s Self-Defense in March 2010 through Caution Unlimited, LLC and has advocated women and children’s safety and awareness ever since.  She was a victim of a violent crime, having been held at gunpoint.  It is only natural that she take the next step and became a Caution Unlimited trainer to provide empowerment, confidence, and knowledge, to women of all ages.

She brings 12 years experience in estate household management and personal assistance, and 8 years in a non-profit, as a Program Director working with seniors, adults, and children.  A 2010 graduate of the Phoenix PD’s Citizen Academy, she holds Heart Saver AED certification through the American Heart Association.

Spongie hails from New England, but she always dreamed of retiring to Phoenix to enjoy a great love and respect for the Sonoran desert.  She loves to shoot, photograph wildlife and ride horses.
